Today technology is getting so advanced that everything is getting shifted from wired to wireless. Hence when it comes to the talk of security cameras, previously wired security cameras were used which later got replaced with wireless security cams and now currently wireless motion camera is used. Security cameras come in two different forms which are:
- Wired
- Wireless
Many people get confused in which type to buy. So the following are some of the factors that must be kept in mind before you choose to purchase:
- Location: Place where the camera needs to be installed
- Size: The amount of space for the camera to be fixed
- Cost: Budget for purchasing the camera
Depending upon the above 3 factors you can decide if you want to go for wired or wireless. Wireless security cams have the ability to cover small and also large distances. Along with this, you can use wireless burglar alarm systems. There are some wireless cameras that can capture a picture which is very far (about 1000 feet). They are expensive but can be easily installed and used. They do not require any wiring and drilling. They can be placed anywhere around and are very comfortable to use.
Wired security cameras are fantastic in providing strong signals. Even they can be located where ever you want but it needs a socket. In case if you feel that the wiring will make it look untidy, then you can cover up the wires. They are far cheaper when compared to wireless. You can be confident about the signals here. They do not lose signals when important information needs to be passed as they do not rely upon air interface. They have the medium through wires. It is very stable and secured too.
Next is the advanced concept in the field of security cameras which is the “wireless motion camera”. Normal security cameras capture everything on all time. It keeps running 24×7 and records everything. It has an external or internal hard disk or a memory device mounted to it, so that it can save all the captured video data into it. Suppose if is a high resolution security camera then it occupies more space to store the videos and images. If this goes on, then the external storage media can just be filled or be out of memory in a couple of days. So the user has to delete or erase all the unwanted data from the external storage device in order to free some space or the user has to get a new device. This can be very annoying! To overcome these storage problems motion cameras were introduced. It has one big time advantage of storage. It starts capturing only when there is a movement detected. Isn’t that cool? So in this way, it stores very less data. It saves nearly 90% of the disk space. You can playback the stored video whenever you wish to. Some cameras have the feature called motion tracking and also have the ability to tilt the camera in any direction by itself if a movement needs to be followed or targeted.
